Earthquake hits Flookburgh |
|
3.7 magnitude earth quake hit Flookburgh on 28th April 2009 at 10:22:09.
Epicentre was <1.5 miles from my house and <2 miles from where I work. I was at work at the time and it felt like the farmers roller hit the building. The farmers roller does shake the building when he goes past, but this was about 5 times worse with a bang to start with. No damage was caused.
I Skyped my wife to check every thing was all right, my first question being what did you drop and my second being are the new windows still in. She said our deaf dog even heard it.
Most of the national news sources have said the epicentre was Ulverstone (its actually Ulverston, Ulverstone is the old way of spelling it). Only the local North West Evening Mail got it correct and reported the epicentre to be off Flookburgh. Ulverston is the nearest market town, but Flookburgh and Cark where much closer.
I was on the phone to a customer at the time and had to explain why I went quiet.
